The soup comes out very tasty - and for that reason it helps you stay on your diet. Click here to find out more about my spice packs. Most diets - especially “mainstream” diets, and those recommended by major medical institutions - work slowly but surely, resulting in around 1 pound of weight loss per week. This “slow and steady” way to lose weight is certainly healthy, but suffers from one major flaw: most people get discouraged and quit whatever diet they are on if they don’t see results quickly.
Instead, you should give yourself some variety. If you have a few ways to prepare cabbage soup, you won’t get sick of it. Cabbage soup is a lot more versatile than people think. It pairs well with other low-calorie vegetables, like celery. It can be served hot or cold. You should be able to find a number of recipes that appeal to you. In reality, this diet regime claims that you will see drastic weight loss of about ten pounds within 7 days. The Cabbage Soup Diet Program, or Mayo Clinic eating plan as it is also identified, is a 7 day eating plan that is based mostly on eating cabbage soup. The plan calls for eating any quantities of cabbage soup you would like throughout the day.
- 1 package soup mix
- 4 stalks celery
- ½ bunch of celery
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 3 carrots, diced
As a nutritionist, I would say, no. It is not safe. Diets like the cabbage soup diet severely limit your intake of important nutrients, like proteins and fats. Instead of trying such a limiting diet, try something that balances foods a little bit more (maybe something like WeightWatchers). Your goal should be to eat a variety of fruits and vegetables, low fat/lean meats, whole grains, and limit your saturated fat intakes. Any diet that asks you to cut out entire groups of foods will be hard to follow and could be dangerous.
