Scarsdale Diet And A Healthy Life

scarsdale diet
As a personal trainer, longtime Scarsdale dieter, and creator of Scarsdale Diet Life,I will debunk these myths and kickstart your journey to health and happiness. The most common complaint I hear among perspective Scarsdale dieters is the thought that fast-food joints, restaurants and other eating places are completely off-limits to those who wish to follow the diet. While this is advised to maximize weight-loss results for those who are following the 14-day weight loss plan, it is unreasonable to impose this rule on those who wish to become fit for life.

I was on the diet some time ago and unfortunately did not remain on the "keep trim" plan, so I did the usual yo-yo thing. Finally, I decided to try it again. I lost over 60 pounds (some yo-yo huh,); my husband lost 45. We are at our goal weights and weigh every day as the book suggests, so that we don't regain more than 5 pounds before getting back on track.

If you follow the plan strictly, you can lose as much as 10 to 20 pounds in a two-week period — although most of that will be water weight. Even worse, the extreme caloric deprivation threatens lean muscle mass, a critical element of an elevated metabolism. While advocates of the diet plan maintain that Scarsdale represents an express route to weight loss, critics say that it provides too few calories for good health. Under the Scarsdale plan, you will follow a strict diet for two weeks, then follow a less rigid diet plan for an additional week or two.

The best part about the Diet plan is the pure simplicity of it.

The calorie intake is one reason many critics slam the diet, because it is so low and perhaps not enough to function optimally let alone carry out various forms of exercise. The original Scarsdale approach isn't followed much these days but there are variants of the diet that are more suited to modern nutritional beliefs. There were hundreds of recipes, brown bag lunch ideas, and it was nice because I had access to the book immediately instead of waiting for one to come in the mail. The best part about the Diet plan is the pure simplicity of it. We all have come to an understanding of just how difficult some of these diet plans out there are to follow in our normal daily routines.

Grapefruit is an important part of the diet regimen, as it is supposed to contain enzymes that help burn fat. The diet encourages drinking at least 4 glasses of fluids such as water, tea or diet soda a day for proper hydration and flushing waste products from the body. The diet suggests that artificial sweeteners be used in place of sugar. The Scarsdale diet does not call for calorie counting, but allows only breakfast, lunch, and dinner and eliminates all snacks.

Take a fruit salad.

For dinner take onion broth along with some croutons (low in fat). Add some poached vegetables and applesauce to the menu. Do not add any sugar to the sauce. Supplement the dinner with six walnuts/pecans. The beverage choices include coffee, tea and herbal tea. Take a fruit salad. You can use the fruits of your liking (no fixed amount). Also take some low-fat cheese (either pot or cottage) served on lettuce/ other greens.
